3-person trekking tents with plenty of space

Are you traveling in a group? Or would you like a little more space and comfort for two? Then a 3-person trekking tent is the right choice for you. The difference in weight compared to a trekking tent for 2 people is not that great and if there are three of you on tour, you can divide the individual components between several people. Then nobody will be carrying too much weight. Our ANTAO III light HC, for example, weighs only 3200 grams and is therefore just 400 grams heavier than the ANTAO II light XL. In return, it offers almost 25 cm more sleeping space in width and 10 cm more in length, as well as significantly more headroom and room volume.
If, in addition to low weight and plenty of sleeping space, you also value two almost huge vestibules facing each other, then you should take a closer look at our HAMRA Light HC. Our space miracle among trekking tents offers you the usual Rejka quality, sleeping space for 3 people with steep walls, fully closable mosquito nets at the inner tent entrances and two vestibules over almost the entire length of the 3-person trekking tent. And with a height of 110 cm, you can sit in it very comfortably without having to keep your head down. The two 3-person trekking tents are our touring tents with a feel-good guarantee!

When is a 3-person trekking tent right for me?

Are you more than two people, pretty much three? Then a 3-person trekking tent is the right choice. Even if you are traveling as a couple and want more space and storage room, you could consider a 3-person trekking tent. As you can divide the individual parts of the three-man tent between you, the weight doesn't play quite as big a role as with a smaller tent. As the tents in the 2021 model year have become lighter overall, especially the Antao III light HC by 300 grams, the decision in favor of comfort and well-being is worth considering for some tourers.

3-person trekking tent: What is important when buying?

As weight is usually not the decisive factor here, you should rather make sure that the 3-person trekking tent offers enough space for you and that it is not complicated to set up. You should also make sure that it is properly waterproof and that the 3-person trekking tent can also be well ventilated. From the 2021 season, our Antao III light HC will also have the new roll-up ventilation in the rear, where you can regulate the tent climate well in summer or remove any condensation from the 3-person trekking tent in the morning if the weather conditions are right. Sustainability is more important than ever for our future, so you should also check whether your future outdoor home can be repaired quickly and professionally and whether the inner or outer tent can be purchased separately. You should also check whether the social standards in the mostly Asian factories are guaranteed and whether the workers there receive a fair income. We can guarantee all of this at Rejka and can therefore sell our tents in Europe and around the world with a clear conscience!

What does HC mean for the 3-person trekking tents?

In our 3-person trekking tents, you will find the suffix HC in the model name, which stands for High Comfort. With these models, everything is slightly larger and more comfortable. The more space in the tents is of course responsible for a little more weight, but also ensures an incredible feeling of well-being in the tent. More space in the width, in the Antao III light HC also in the length, more headroom and larger vestibules. Despite their size, these three-man tents are just as quick to pitch as the smaller models.

What should a 3-person trekking tent be able to withstand?

Generally speaking, lightweight tents made of polyester or nylon material are always more sensitive than the robust versions made of cotton fabric, which are designed for camping. Nylon tents are not designed for continuous use. Nevertheless, the lightweight tents that we produce are also very durable and a safe companion on tour if you pay a little attention to where the tent is pitched and how you handle it after the tour. On tour, please always make sure that the site is cleaned before pitching the 3-person trekking tent, as sharp stones and thorns are always bad for the inner tent floor.

When packing the tent, also make sure that the tent is not rolled up over such objects. You should also never pitch your three-man tent under trees or in the forest in windy and stormy conditions, as falling branches can damage the tent and, in the worst case, injure the occupants. The 3-person trekking tent can be packed up wet without any problems and set up wet again in the evening. You can also do this with our tents for weeks or months. After the tour, however, a wet 3-person trekking tent should never be stored in the pack sack for longer than 3-4 days, as otherwise mildew stains and mold will form that you can no longer remove.

What is the ideal place to pitch my 3-person trekking tent?

The ideal place to pitch your 3-person trekking tent should be sheltered from the wind, shady and relatively level so that you don't all roll onto one side at night. A 3-person trekking tent requires quite a lot of space and should be designed so that it can be set up and taken down quickly. If it is not possible to pitch your tent out of the wind, it is advisable to pitch the short side into the wind so that it does not have so much surface area to attack. However, if there is a storm, it is better to pitch the high side into the wind, as otherwise the outer skin will very quickly press on the inner tent and you will only be busy stabilizing the tent from the inside during the storm.

Can I use my 3-person trekking tent all year round?

In principle, you can go on tour with your 3-person trekking tent in any weather. We do have a special four-season tent in our range, the Olanka light, which is particularly advantageous in heavy snow, but you can also use our other trekking tents all year round, as long as they are not intended for tough winter use with lots of snowfall.
